Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia holds Victor Osimhen in high regard, and he exhibited it in a recent interview as he rated the Napoli striker over national team legend Segun Odegbami.
Siasia himself was once a forward for the Nigerian national team. In fact, he was one of the most prolific, scoring 16 goals for the Super Eagles in 51 games.

Siasia plays Start, Bench or Sell
The 57-year-old Olympic silver medalist had a tell-all interview on the Special Delivery podcast hosted by his former teammate, Emmanuel Babayaro and renowned journalist, Matthew Edafe.
On the pod, Siasia discussed the recent loss of his father, his coming up as a footballer, his coaching career, and the ignominy he suffered after he incurred a ban from FIFA over bribery allegations.
As is customary on the said podcast, guests are made to participate in a rapid round of questioning involving, but not limited to, popular football-related online challenges like ‘Start, bench, sell’; Pick a Five-a-side team; and ‘All-time greatest IX’.
Siasia tried his hands at all of this but it was his choice for the ‘Start, bench, sell’ question that stuck out. ‘Eusebio’ was told to start, bench or sell a selection of three of the best strikers in Nigerian national team history: Segun Odegbami, Rashidi Yekini and Victor Osimhen.
Siasia embarked on this journey and quickly picked Rashidi Yekini as his first choice. He opted to bench Odegbami, and when he realised it meant he was discarding Victor Osimhen, he walked back on his selection. This underscores the intentionality of the corrected picks and how highly he regards Osimhen.
On his second go at it, he stuck with his erstwhile striking partner, Rashidi Yekini. However, this time, he chose to bench Osimhen, effectively ranking the 1980 African champion as the third of the three.
