Oliviera, who joined Msimbazi in January 2023, says Simba have to end the season on a winning note by picking up maximum points in their final two league fixtures.

Simba might have endured another painful trophyless season. Still, head coach Roberto Oliviera is holding on to the fact that the Tanzanian giants have to sign out of the current campaign on a high.

Oliviera, who joined Msimbazi in January 2023, says Simba have to end the season on a winning note by picking up maximum points in their final two league fixtures.

“We have two games left, and they’re vital because we are professional; Simba is a big club, and we have a responsibility to win every game, nothing less,” he told Simba media.

“I prepare my team for a win; after four days, our players are back in good condition, and in my opinion, we are now ready to finish our campaign on a high.”

Simba will sign out with two home games against Polisi Tanzania and Coastal Union, and wins in both will see Oliviera’s side end the season in the second spot on 73 points after 30 games.

Msimbazi has had a brutal campaign; their season came crashing down, starting with the quarter-final 4-3 penalty defeat to Wydad in the CAF Champions League, then came the 2-1 loss to Azam FC in the domestic Cup semi-finals.

Arch rivals Young Africans delivered the final nail in the coffin when they retained the league title with two games to spare.

The Simba SC apologised last week to their fans and promised to do much better in the coming season. However, the Tanzanian giants also registered positives, especially on the continent.

Their 7-0 home mauling of Horoya FC was Simba’s biggest CAF Champions League group stage win, with midfielder Clatous Chota Chama scoring his first hat-trick, ending the campaign on four goals.
