The streets of Dar-es-Salaam, at least those that belong to Simba SC, will party all night long after the Tanzanian giants emphatically sealed a spot in the knockout stages of the CAF Champions League.
Msimbazi were 7-0 winners at home over Horoya FC on Saturday evening at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium.
Clatous Chota Chama notched his first hat trick in the group stages, while Jean Baleke and Sadio Kanoute each notched a brace.
The hosts started brightly like a house on fire; forward Jean Baleke was fouled at the edge of the 18-yard area.
Up stepped Chama, who beautifully curled home a freekick to open the scoring after ten minutes.
Forward Jean Baleke then reacted quickest to slot home Denis Kibu’s spilt belter to double the lead in the 32nd minute, but the first-half party wasn’t done yet.
Chama was it again, this time converting from the penalty spot in the 36th minute after a handball in the box—the first half ending with Simba in total control.
Roberto Oliviera’s side stepped it up after recess taking charge of every possession, and Sadio Kanoute increased the lead nine minutes into the second half.
Msimbazi went on a scoring spree after that; Jean Baleke got his second in the 64th minute before Chama completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute.
Kanoute then sealed it with his second on the day with three minutes to earn Msimbazi an emphatic 7-0 rout.
This is Simba's biggest win in the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
The win takes Simba to the second on the log with nine points, four behind table leaders Raja Casablanca who played out a 1-1 draw in Kampala against Vipers SC.
Simba travels to Morocco to face Raja Casablanca while Vipers play away to Horoya in the last group games next month.
