The arrival of Joao Felix at Chelsea fueled speculation that Diego Simeone was on his way out, but new reports suggest otherwise.
Diego Simeone has been reported to have no plans to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.
The Argentine manager was reported to be ready to call it quits at Atletico at the end of the season following Joao Felix's move to Chelsea.
New reports have come out to dispel the notion.
Simeone does not plan to leave Atletico
Joao Felix, who has had problems with Simeone, moved to Chelsea on loan for the rest of the season, but he extended his contract with Atletico for one year before moving.
Following the move, reports surfaced claiming Simeone intended to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season and Felix would return to the club with a new manager in charge.
Madrid-based publication, Marca, has reported this as false, saying Simeone has no such plans and neither does the club's CEO, Miguel Angel Gil, plan to force him out.
Simeone at Atletico Madrid
The 52-year-old became Atletico Madrid's manager in December 2012 and has since led a competitive Atletico Madrid.
He managed Atletico Madrid to two Champions League finals in 2014 and 2016, the second and third in the club's history.
In his first season, he led them to the Europa League title, which he repeated in 2017/18. He also won two UEFA Super Cups.
On the domestic scene, Simeone won two LaLiga titles in 2013/14 and 2020/21, the Copa del Rey in 2012/13, and the Spanish Super Cup in 2014/15.
