Batoto Ba Mungu have appointed their former coach Robert Matano after last season’s struggles and they have given reasons why they feel he will bring back the glory years.
Robert Matano’s experience and winning mentality are the main reasons Sofapaka settled on him to replace departed coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno.
Matano left Tusker this month following the expiry of his contract, ending a largely successful six-year tenure.
The veteran tactician has, however, not taken long to land a new job as his former club Sofapaka quickly appointed him with the view of turning around their fortunes and Batoto Ba Mungu feel they now have the right man in charge.

‘They can also break the eggs and win’ – Matano fires back at his critics over ‘juju’ use claims
Ex-Tusker coach Robert Matano has dismissed his detractors who claim he uses black magic to win matches.
“Matano has a long history with the club and he also won us titles before,” Sofapaka CEO Ronald Okoth told Pulse Sports.
“He promoted the team and won the league. He is a hard worker and very experienced. He will give us stability and instill a great work ethic.
“Matano is a winner, he knows the DNA of the club as he has been here before. We had other options but decided to settle on Matano.”

Tusker FC go abroad in search of veteran Robert Matano's upgrade
The Brewers are looking beyond the Kenyan borders for a new tactician after the six-year tenure of experienced Robert Matano.
Matano led Sofapaka to Premier League promotion before winning the title in their maiden top flight campaign in 2009 and even though they do not expect instant success, they believe he will make their stay in the division comfortable following their recent struggles.
“We hope we can perform better and Matano comes with a new mindset which will help us finish in a better position,” added Okoth.
“We are looking to work with young players. We have put together a good structure to help us have a good season. The performance of next season will give us a perspective of where we want to be in the following campaign.”

Sofapaka endured a difficult 2023-24 campaign and only retained their Premier League status after winning the promotion-relegation playoff against Naivas FC last week.
