Spanish star Rodri was at the heart of every Manchester City move against Fulham as they returned to the top of the Premier League standings.

Spanish midfielder Rodri wrote his name into the Premier League record books as Manchester City returned to the summit with an emphatic 4-0 victory at Fulham.

From start to finish, the Spanish midfielder's ever-present role marked his 72nd consecutive Premier League appearance without defeat.

Rodri has now gone over a year without tasting defeat in England's top division - an astonishing run of consistency and quality from the 27-year-old.

And he underlined his importance to Pep Guardiola's side with a masterful display at the base of City's midfield at Craven Cottage.

Rodri dominated proceedings, completing 123 passes at an impressive 97% accuracy - both game-high tallies.

While Josko Gvardiol grabbed the headlines with two goals, it was Rodri's metronomic control at the base of the midfield that allowed City to dictate the tempo.

His reading of the game, relentless pressing and pinpoint distribution from deep repeatedly stifled Fulham's attacks before they could begin.

Rodri has now started all but four of City's 36 Premier League matches this season and his consistency is a huge factor behind their title charge.

With the former Atletico man patrolling the engine room, City's flair players are able to flourish further forward, safe in the knowledge their defensive anchor man has things covered.

His unbeaten streak may be the headline-grabber, but it's Rodri's quality week-in, week-out that makes him such a pivotal cog in Guardiola's well-oiled machine.
