The hosts got off on the front foot in Friday's encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, in Onikan, scoring their first goal of the game in the 14th minute.
It took them only two minutes to double their lead, putting despair on the faces of the visitors.
However, Clement Naantaum eased the pressure on Sporting Lagos, cutting Joy Cometh's two-goal lead by scoring his side's first of the day after 27 minutes.
The hosts were then gifted a glorious opportunity to restore their two-goal lead just minutes before half-time, but the penalty was sent wide.
They eventually did pay for the wasted opportunity in the 76th minute, as a well-worked Sporting Lagos setup got finished off from close range by Wisdom Samuel.

Group B2 will see Ijebu United take on Crown, while Smart City will welcome Gateway United to Lagos on Sunday. The likes of Heartland, Rovers and Madiba will look to continue their dominance in their individual groups in the Southern Conference.
The Northern Conference could see Mighty Jets, Katsina United, Kano Pillars and Adamawa United extend their leads in Groups A1, A2, A3 and A4 respectively.
