Calvary and Adjumani join holders BUL, Vipers, Express and KCCA in the quarterfinals.
Sam Ssimbwa suffered the first loss since joining Kitara when his team was booted out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup by Calvary in a round of 16 fixture played on Sunday in Yumbe.
The two second-division sides matched each other’s strength 1-1 during the normal regulation time but Kitara faulted in the penalty shootout to lose 8-7.
Dickens Kilama had put the West Nile outfit ahead with only nine minutes left on the clock and were on course for a win but Maxwell Owachgiu headed in at the death to send the match into shootouts.
In the other match, Adjumani Town Council ended Bunyagururu’s fairytale run in the competition.
The two failed to break the deadlock during the normal time before the Big League side went on to win 4-3 in the shootouts.
Calvary and Adjumani join holders BUL, Vipers, Express and KCCA in the quarterfinals.
The games continue on Monday with Police taking on Ndejje University at Kavumba.
