St. Henry’s Kitovu beat Westville to seal a semifinal slot in the USSSA National Secondary School championship- and qualification to East Africa

Jonathan Kyalema’s late goal against Westville was enough to seal a semifinal for St. Henry’s College Kitovu in the ongoing USSSA National Secondary School championship in Nyakasura.

Kitovu easily whizzed through their opponents in the group games and a 4-1 win over London College Nansana in the round of 16 but faced tough opposition against Westville.

The Rwenzori side was compact for the better part of the game but failed to use their chances that fell to Marvin Kabeto and Allan Lukwago and were punished for that.

With the match destined to shootouts, Westville keeper Kevin Ssewanyana failed to communicate with his defenders to deal away with a cross.

Ssewanyana fumbled to handle the aerial ball before colliding with Ivan Lucky and spilled it down.

The remains found Kyalemwa in the right place at the right time as the striker swept the ball in with only five minutes of normal time left.

The win also confirms Kitovu’s slot in the East African Secondary School games later in the year.
