Marcus Rashford's decision to attend a birthday party at a club mere hours after Manchester United were embarrassed at home in the Manchester Derby has been labelled stupid and daft by the former Premier League winner

Premier League icon and record goalscorer Alan Shearer has bashed Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford for staying out late to celebrate his birthday after the Red Devils were humiliated in the Manchester derby.

Rashford draws Shearer’s ire after attending club banger

Manchester United suffered a 3-0 hammering at Old Trafford by their fierce rivals two days before Rashford’s birthday, but that did not stop the England international from celebrating with friends, a decision which has left Shearer fuming.

Speaking on The Rest is Football Podcast, Shearer boomed, “I don’t care if it’s your birthday on a Saturday night. If you’ve been dumped 3-0 and it’s a terrible performance, you’ve got to read the room.

Using himself as an example, Shearer also said, “The number of times that that happened to me where we had a dinner planned or this planned and we’ve been beaten on a Saturday night and I’ve said, ‘I can’t go out, I’m not going out’.”

“You can’t go into town, into a nightclub on the night you’ve been dumped 3-0 off your neighbours. You can’t do it, it’s just a no-no.”

Shearer slams Rashford’s decision-making

The former Newcastle and Blackburn striker further laid into Rashford for his decision-making, saying, “It was daft, it was stupid for Marcus to do that, whether it’s your birthday or not, you can’t go out after you’ve been battered.

“Dinner is different, if you’re going out to a restaurant there’s an excuse to say I’m just going out with the missus or whoever it may be. But going into a nightclub, you can’t do that, not when you’ve been beaten 3-0 by your neighbours. Cancel.”

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag made a similar point about Rashford’s birthday bash, calling it unacceptable and did not select the 26-year-old English forward in the following Premier League game against Fulham.
