As it happened

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca included Kelechi Iheanacho in his starting lineup to lead the attack while Wilfred Ndidi played behind his fellow countryman.

The Foxes started the game with high intensity and got the first goal in the sixth minute of the game.

City broke out of a press, with Stolarczyk, Faes, and Winks all working it well. They then attack with Albrighton and while his first cross is blocked, he and Praet work to win it back.

Albrighton crosses again and Iheanacho is there in the six-yard box, facing away from goal, as he backheeled the ball into the net.

The away team could not contain the pressure from the Leicester team and conceded the second goal in the injury time of the first half.

Doyle catches the Burton defence sleeping and plays a long ball for Iheanacho with no one near him and he is able to carry the ball into the box.

He chose not to shoot but instead drew the player closer then tucking the ball back for Ndidi to finish the first time into the top corner.

The referee blew the whistle for halftime with Leicester City leading 2-0 at the break thanks to Iheanacho and Ndidi’s goals.

The second half started as Burton Albion tried to get back into the game but Leicester were strong enough to hold on to their lead.

Both teams created little chances in the second half with Nidid and Iheanacho’s goal already doing the damage in the first half.

The full-time whistle was blown by the referee as the Foxes secure a vital 2-0 win to move to the next round of the competition.
