The Udinese goalkeeper picked two of Atalanta's rivals, snubbing his international teammates
Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye recently shared his predictions on the potential winners of the 2024/25 Serie A season.
Despite having a Nigerian teammate in Ademola Lookman at Atalanta, Okoye did not back the Bergamo-based side to win the Scudetto.
Okoye’s picks Juventus and Inter Milan for title
Instead, in an interview, the Germany-born Super Eagles shot-stopper highlighted Juventus and Inter Milan as the main contenders for the title.
When asked for his thoughts on who would lift the Serie A trophy this season, Okoye stated, “From the way it’s going, Juve with Thiago Motta looks quite strong, but for sure Inter will also be a top candidate.”
Despite Atalanta's recent impressive performances under Gian Piero Gasperini and their potential for an upset, Okoye believes the established giants of Italian football will ultimately dominate the title race.
Okoye building reputation at Udinese
Okoye has been a key figure at Udinese since his arrival two years ago and has continued to impress in the 2024/25 campaign.
Last season, the Nigerian goalkeeper played a crucial role in saving Udinese from relegation, despite only featuring in the second half of the season.
This year, he has been one of the standout performers in Serie A and is quickly making a name for himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the league.
Although Udinese are not in the title conversation, Okoye’s performances have raised his standing in Italy and in the world of football in general. .
