Two players from the current Super Eagles team have been nominated for the honour of being in the Serie A Team of the Season for 2022/23
Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have been nominated for places in the Serie A team of the Season for 2022/23.

The pair have been amazing this campaign, with Osimhen smashing records on his way to a historic Serie A title with Napoli and Lookman helping Atalanta battle for a place in European football next season.

At some point in Serie A, the pair were first and second in the scorer’s charts, but Osimhen’s superb end to the season has seen him open up a chasm of goals between himself and Lookman.
Nevertheless, both players have been included in the nominees' list for the end-of-the-season awards alongside nine other forwards who have been in stunning form for their clubs in the Italian top flight.
Oismhen and Lookman having a special 2022/23 campaign
Osimhen broke Cameroonian great Samuel Eto’o Fils’ record for the most goals by an African player in a single Serie A season after scoring a league-high 23 goals in the 2022/23 campaign.
In total, the Napoli man has contributed to 27 goals as he has also assisted four goals for his teammates.
Lookman’s impressive season has seen him score 13 goals and assist four more as well, making him the Atalanta player with the most goal contributions, with the next-best, midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, contributing directly to 10 goals.
The Super Eagles pair could be in the team of the season together when voting is over, a huge sign of the quality in the current national team set up.
