Trabzonspor beat Fenerbahce 3-2 in the Turkish Super Lig to end their 21-game winning streak and Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu contributed a goal

Trabzonspor pulled off the biggest upset in the Turkish Super Lig this season with a surprise 3-2 win away at the dominant league leader Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce had started the season perfectly with 10 wins from their first 10 Turkish Super Lig fixtures and 21 straight wins across all competitions, including European matches and cup games.

That run was halted spectacularly and unexpectedly on their own home ground when Trabzonspor raced into a 3-nil lead thanks to goals from Paul Onuachu, Berat Ozdemir and Nicolas Pepe after which the hosts pulled two back to end the game with a respectable 3-2 defeat.

Paul Onuachu heads Trabzonspor to the win

Trabzonspor used the element of surprise on Fenerbahce with an early goal scored by Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu after some fantastic wing play by Edin Visca who put in a fantastic cross for the striker to head home from close range.

The 29-year-old striker scored what is already his fourth goal of the season, on loan at Trabzonspor from Southampton where he failed to hit the ground running.

The first half ended with that solitary goal but the real assault came just after the break with two quick-fire goals to effectively end the match.

Central midfielder Berat Ozdemir struck a long-range shot into the bottom corner in the 46-minute to spark wild celebrations and make it 2-0.

The celebrations had barely died down when former Arsenal flop Nicolas Pepe made it three just a minute later, arriving late to fire home from a cut back by Abdulkadir Omur.

Fenerbahce would not go down without a fight though as two Dusan Tadic penalties in the 61st and 90th minutes made it 2-3 but it was too little too late for a comeback rally.

The result sees Fenerbahce drop to second with 30 points while Trabzonspor moved up to fourth in the Turkish Super Lig with 19 points.
