Coach Randy Waldrum determined the Super Falcons readiness for the coming Olympic matches.

Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has declared the players ready to face Canada in a friendly and, subsequently, the Olympics opener against Brazil, despite certain players turning up late to camp.

The Nigerian women's national team are one of the two African teams heading to the Paris Olympics. They have been drawn in possibly the toughest group, with Japan and Spain completing the set.

The NFF has organised a friendly against North American side Canada for tomorrow, July 17, and Waldrum believes the girls have trained at a high level and are prepared for the match.

What Waldrum said

In an interview with The Super Falcons Show, Waldrum ascertained the preparedness of the Super Falcons ahead of the friendly against Canada

He revealed that some players were late to camp but stressed that they managed to reach a high level despite the setback.

We have had a great camp; the players have worked extremely hard,” Waldrum said.

"Unfortunately, we've had a few come into the camp a little bit late, but the level has been extremely high and the players look very very focused moving forward for the Olympics.

Speaking on what he hopes to achieve with the friendly against Canada, Waldrum stated that the coaching crew wants to test out what they have worked on in training and see more from certain players.

"Certainly, the Canada game for us is a friendly and allows us to work on a couple of things that we put in place during this camp, and to see some players, to find those best combinations that are going to actually represent us when we open up against Brazil in the opening match.”

“So I think the girls are ready. They are tired of playing each other. I think they are ready to face a new team, so we are all looking forward to the game against Canada.”

The Super Falcons play Brazil in just over a week, specifically on July 25th. The matches against Spain and Japan are scheduled for July 28th and 31st, respectively.
