Former Vipers SC midfielder Taddeo Lwanga has been named captain for Rwanda Premier League champions APR FC.

The Uganda Cranes player has replaced Djabel Manishimwe, who was released by the club earlier in the transfer window.

It will be the second time Lwanga captains a team, as he was skipper at Vipers, guiding them to the 2017/18 Uganda Premier League title.

The 29 year-old only recently joined APR on a two-year employment contract after ending his stint with Djibouti outfit Arta/Solar7.

APR will represent Rwanda in the CAF Champions League, taking on Somalia side Gaadidka in the preliminary round.

The vastly experienced star has previously featured for Express FC, SC Villa, Vipers, Tanta in Egypt, Simba SC in Tanzania and Arta/Solar7.

While he has rarely received national team call-ups lately, he has played 26 official matches for the Uganda Cranes dating back to 2005.
