Goalkeepers
Rui Patricio (AS Roma)
Veteran goalkeeper Rui Patricio made the headlines for his penalty save in Roma’s 3-0 win at home to Udinese, denying Roberto Pereyra from 12 yards.
Admittedly, the 35-year-old did not do too much else as Roma were barely tested by Udinese but a penalty save and clean sheet should be enough to be named goalkeeper of the week for any league.
Joakim Maehle (Atalanta)
Danish wing-back Joakim Maehle opened the scoring for Atalanta against Fiorentina on Monday night with a brilliant finish in the 37th minute.
And although the hosts would go on to equalise, Maehle ended the night with 82% pass accuracy, including one key pass, succeeding with two of his three dribble attempts, winning three of five ground duels and two clearances in the 1-1 draw.
Luca Caldirola (Monza)
Former Inter youth player Luca Caldirola lived his dream in spectacular fashion by scoring a late winning goal for Monza at the Guiseppe Meazza.
Caldirola’s 78th-minute header was the only goal of the game as Monza stunned Inter away from home with the 32-year-old also contributing five clearances and three blocks in a rearguard defence against Inter’s comeback attempts.
Martin Erlic (Sassuolo)
Sassuolo secured an unlikely 1-0 win at home to Juventus and although Gregoire Deffrel scored the winning goal, Martin Erlic’s defensive input must not be overlooked.
The 25-year-old Croatian centre-back had eight clearances, blocked two shots and recorded an interception while also winning five of his nine aerial duels.
Fode Ballo-Toure (AC Milan)
Fode Ballo-Toure was handed only his fifth Serie A appearance of the season for Milan and the Senegalese left-back held his own in the absence of Theo Hernandez who was being rested for the UEFA Champions League game against Napoli.
The 26-year-old won 11 of his 15 ground duels and three of five aerial duels, including four tackles and two clearances in a solid defensive performance.

Tomasso Pobega (AC Milan)
Tomasso Pobega was one of the standouts in Milan’s group of second-string players who took to the pitch in the 1-1 draw away at Bologna.
The 23-year-old Italian midfielder scored a goal-of-the-week contender in the 39th minute, firing home a left-footed strike in off the woodwork.
Tonny Vilhena (Salernitana)
Tonny Vilhena scored his fourth Serie A goal of the season for Salernitana with a smart finish to open the scoring in the eighth minute away at Torino.
The game ended 1-1 as the Dutch midfielder’s contribution was enough to earn the visitors a crucial point.
Lorenzo Pellegrini (AS Roma)
Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini willed his team on to a 3-0 win at home to Udinese with a goal and a stellar individual performance.

Pellegrini finished off a sweeping counter-attacking move in the 55th minute while also completing 100% of his long balls in 89 minutes of football.

Gabriel Strefezza (Lecce)
Gabriel Strefezza put in a great shift for Lecce in the 1-1 draw against Sampdoria, assisting the home team’s only goal to open the scoring.
Strefezza played through a gorgeous ball to Ceesay who scored in the 31st minute but that was just one out of eight key passes he played in the game while also creating three big chances.
Jese Rodriguez (Sampdoria)
On the other end of the same game was Jese Rodriguez, the Spanish winger who equalised for Sampdoria in the 75th minute after coming off the bench at halftime.
Jese latched onto a through pass by Manolo Gabbiadini and although he made a difficult finish from a tight angle look super easy with a smart dink over the goalkeeper for his first Serie A goal.
Cyriel Dessers (Cremonese)
Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers scored his sixth Serie A goal of the season for Cremonese in a 1-0 win at home to Empoli.
Dessers latched on to a long ball and controlled with his chest and then finished delicately to seal the decisive moment of the game.
