The result takes the Cops to the summit of the table with 37 points as they wait for results from the other games
Police showed their strong intent to bounce back to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with a 4-0 thumping of Calvary in their backyard in Kavumba.
Hassan Kikoyo started the goals party with the opener from the spot after 22 minutes.
Reagan Male, who was the busiest in the afternoon, found space on the left to receive a pass from Tony Kiwalazi but was hacked down as he tried to dribble past James Obwoya who hacked him down.
Kikoyo stepped up for the responsibility and powered past Saleh Maganda’s dive on the left for the opener.
Male doubled the lead 15 minutes later when he beat Obwoya on the left wing and then cut back before firing a superb shot to the top left corner.
The Cops suffered a setback with only two minutes remaining when the keeper Davis Mutebi was controversially sent off after being judged to have handled the ball outside the box.
Dickens Kilama raced through to control a long pass around the 20-yard box before attempting to tip over an advancing Mutebi. The ball appeared to have hit his face with his left hand swinging loosely but the referee saw otherwise sending him off.
Coach Angelo Lonyesi made a change at the beginning of the second half introducing Abdul Nsereko. The change worked its magic shortly after the hour mark. Apollo Ssenteza crossed to Nsereko after a quick counter-attack. The striker calmly controlled and fired in.
Male almost grabbed his brace with twelve minutes of regulation time remaining but his attempt was blocked. Denis Kalanzi collected the loose ball and fired in the fourth.
The result takes the Cops to the summit of the table with 37 points as they wait for results from the other games. However, with two of the top teams playing each other, they are assured to end the day in the top three.
