Lorient have dropped top scorer Terem Moffi from the squad for Saturday's game against Bastia amid transfer links
Nigerian striker Terem Moffi will not be involved in his club's next game as he was dropped from the squad entirely amid transfer links.
Lorient released the 20-man squad list to prosecute the Coupe De France game away at Bastia on Saturday and Moffi was the obvious omission.
The Super Eagles striker is Lorient's top scorer with 12 goals in 18 games which has drawn transfer interest and is perhaps why he has been dropped.
Terem Moffi on the move?
Moffi has been strongly linked with a move to multiple clubs including West Ham, Southampton and OGC Nice in the January transfer window.
West Ham is no longer on the table as the Hammers just signed another striker in Danny Ings and Southampton were never really serious contenders leaving Nice as the potential destination.
Reports suggest that Moffi has an agreement in place with French club Nice and the fact that he's not involved at all for Lorient in the game against Bastia means a transfer move may be indeed close to materialising.
Moffi was also not involved in Lorient's last Coupe De France game as he sat on the bench and watched his team beat Châtaigneraie 6-0.
While there's a possibility that the Nigerian striker is just being rested, the fact that he hasn't revealed with the team at all is suspicious and indicative of an upcoming transfer.
Lorient have been the target of the transfer window so far with their key players being lured away and repeatedly linked with moves away from the club.
They already lost winger Dango Ouattara to Bournemouth for £20 million and other star players, Terem Moffi and Enzo Le Fee continue to be strongly linked with moves away.
French midfielder Le Fee is also not going to be involved for Lorient in the cup game against Bastia as he was dropped along with Moffi.
