Dauda's record saw him become the second most-capped Ghanaian goalkeeper at the World Cup, an achievement that stood unchallenged until Lawrence Ati-Zigi recently surpassed it.

Former Ghanaian goalkeeper Fatau Dauda is on the cusp of inking a lucrative contract with the Sudanese national team as their next goalkeeping coach.

Sources confirm that the agreement is valued at a remarkable UGX 2.8 billion ($770,000) annually.

The Pulse eSports independence Cup is set to take place on 9th October 2023

Once the deal materializes, Dauda's earnings will eclipse that of many of his compatriots in terms of earning.

He will stand as the second-highest-paid Ghanaian coach globally, trailing only behind Appiah, who enjoys a staggering UGX 5.5 billion ($1.5 million) package.

Appiah is expected to take over as the next Sudan national team coach, having taken over the role last month.

Appiah is expected to have referred his former player. The two share a history; Dauda was Ghana's premier goalkeeper during Appiah's tenure as the Black Stars' coach.

Dauda, who hails from Madina, a notably impoverished suburb in Accra, has had a trajectory that is nothing short of inspirational.

From his humble beginnings, Dauda ascended to stardom with clubs such as Okwahu United and Ashanti Gold S.C, with his prowess eventually taking him to the esteemed ranks of the Soweto heavyweights, Orlando Pirates.

By 2014, his reputation as a goalkeeper had soared to such heights that he was widely regarded as one of Ghana's most distinguished shot-stoppers both locally and internationally.

Impressively, Dauda's record saw him become the second most-capped Ghanaian goalkeeper at the World Cup, an achievement that stood unchallenged until Lawrence Ati-Zigi recently surpassed it.

After hanging his gloves in 2021, Dauda transitioned into coaching, and has has quickly made a mark in his new role, serving dual responsibilities at the renowned Right to Dream Academy and the Ghana national under-20 team.

The Sudanese national team is expected to set up camp in Saudi Arabia and potentially play their matches in either Saudi Arabia or Egypt, as they aim to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nation and 2026 World Cup.
