The Red Devils’ manager, who salvaged his position over the summer by clinching the FA Cup, proudly pointed out that he is the first United manager to win trophies in consecutive seasons since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson in 2010.

He also pointed out that only city rivals Manchester City had won more trophies than the Red Devils, saying, "Listen, behind City, we won the most trophies over the last two years, so [we] performed better than anyone else. That's the reality. Those are the facts."

Ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford has seen him lead the club to success in domestic competitions, with the FA Cup victory being a notable highlight. In contrast, Liverpool has managed only one League Cup win in the same period.

Ten Hag banks on fans' support

Despite the pressure from the club’s hierarchy, including co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Ten Hag remains assured of his position as Manchester United manager and was keen to point to the progress made under his leadership.

Speaking before the Liverpool game, Ten Hag said, "I had to build this club. We brought young players in. We progressed young players. We won trophies. So what can I do more?

"As far as I know, the fans are happy with me, even though it's not about me, it's about Man United, and of course, we set higher targets."
