Manchester City hero Ilkay Gundogan has swapped the Premier League for Barcelona on a free transfer.
LaLiga champions FC Barcelona has revealed the amount it will take to lure new signing Ilkay Gundogan away from the club.
The treble winner has completed his move to Barcelona on a free transfer as reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria.
Gundogan has put pen to paper on a two-year contract that will see him wear the famous Barcelona shirt until the summer of 2025.
Gundogan’s buyout clause revealed
According to the club via their website, it will cost 400 million Euros for any club to activate the buyout clause of the German international at the club.
The 32-year-old, who has had a brilliant career so far which culminated in the treble with Manchester City last season, turns 33 in October.
Gundogan spent seven years at Man City and proved to be a pivotal member of the Cityzens during his time at the club.
He scored 60 goals in that time, won five Premier League titles while helping the club seal its first-ever Champions League win last season.
Free to leave clause
In a related development, it appears the buyout clause is not the only bizarre clause in Gundogan’s contract.
According to a post by Barcacentre through a Spanish journalist, Gundogan can also leave the Catalans even before kicking a ball at the club.
The German and the club have reportedly agreed to insert a clause in his contract that could allow him to cancel his contract before the close of the current transfer window.
You can read all about that clause here.
