Kitara and Mbarara City, with 58 and 57 points respectively, have confirmed their slot in next year’s Uganda Premier League but they'll be fighting for the FUFA Big League title.

The 2023 FUFA Big League finally ends on Thursday with some crunch ties for the top honours.

There’s nothing to play for at the bottom of the table as the four teams that are expected to go down are already confirmed.

Soroti City’s 30 points mean that they can’t finish above Kataka in the 12th place.

The Teso side goes down together with Luweero United, fellow newcomers Adjumani Town Council and Northern Gateway.

Battles

While Kitara and Mbarara City, with 58 and 57 points respectively, have confirmed their slot in next year’s Uganda Premier League, there’s a small matter of the title.

Sam Ssimbwa’s Royals need a win over Kaaro Karungi to confirm them as champions.

There will be all to play for NEC and Police to decide who joins the two in the topflight next season.

This time, NEC must summon all their strength and overcome their poor away form to beat a less-motivated Kataka in Mbale if they’re to qualify on the first time of asking.

On the other side, The Cops will need to beat Jinja North and pray for favours from Kataka.

Elsewhere, Denis Omedi will hope to add to his 22-goal tally to win the golden boot race.

Omedi is facing stiff competition from Mbarara City’s Henry Kitegenyi, who has two fewer.
