Despite showing a lot of industry to get into the right positions against West Ham, Onuachu’s finishing let him down as the Saints were beaten at home.

The Nigerian forward fired eight shots during the game against West Ham, the most by any player in a single Premier League match this season, but was unable to find the back of the net.

Onuachu was able to get on the end of three big chances but fluffed his lines on all three occasions to the frustration of Southampton fans.

Southampton eventually paid the price for Onuachu’s misses as Jarrod Bowen eventually scored the game-winning goal with the Hammers already down to 10 men.

Fans pile on Onuachu after loss

Onuachu’s performance against West Ham did not go down well with Southampton fans as they took to social media to express their displeasure with the Nigeria international.

Fans questioned Onuachu’s finishing in the 1-0 loss, bemoaning missed chances that could have turned the game around in their favour.

Some fans referred to Onuachu as the worst in Southampton colours, while others were surprised at the 6’ 7” striker’s poor heading ability despite his height advantage.

Onuachu is yet to get off the mark for Southampton after 22 matches in all competitions, and it is becoming clear that fans’ patience with the Owerri-born forward is running thin.
