Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola commented on the omission of Rodri from the Premier League Team of the Season nominees list.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has weighed in on the Premier League Player of the Season nominee list which controversially excluded Spanish midfielder Rodri.
Rodri is one of the top performers in the English top-flight this season, in fact, he is yet to lose a single game. Manchester City’s three losses in the league this season happened in Rodri’s absence, signifying the Spaniard’s importance to the league leaders, however, this was not enough to get him a Player of the Season nod.

The eight nominees for the Premier League's Player of the Year award include two from Manchester City and Arsenal.

Erling Haaland (Man City)
Phil Foden (Man City)
Declan Rice (Arsenal)
Martin Odegaard (Arsenal)
Alexander Isak (Newcastle)
Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
Rodri was a conspicuous omission, but his teammates Foden and Haland were a feature making them the only team outside Arsenal with Odegaard and Saka to have two players on the list.
What Guardiola said
The City praised Rodri, believing that he was deserving of a nomination, however, he maintained grace, as he added that the eight to make the cut were deserving of their spot.
"He has been one of the best. Those nominated deserve it and others deserve it too," said Guardiola,” the Manchester City boss, per Manchester Evening News.
"What is important is he knows what we think about his importance and what a magnificent, extraordinary player he is. He should not be worried at all about that."
