FC Talanta head coach Ken Kenyatta has expressed his pride after his side managed to secure promotion whilst beating Nairobi City Stars, a side he claims “ripped him of his best players” in preseason.

Talanta came from behind to draw 2-2 with the Simba wa Nairobi at the Kasarani Annex on Tuesday afternoon, and in doing so kept them in 13th place, two points ahead of the Nicholas Muyoti- coached outfit.

In the mid-season window, City Stars snapped up Dennis Oalo and Vincent Owino from the side, leaving the side in a very big position of weakness, and Kenyatta has appeared to aim some digs at the side for avoiding defeat against them.

City Stars took away some of my players at the wrong time, especially in mid season,” he said, “We ended up having so many players sold to Nairobi City Stars and it was difficult to attract players,” he added.

“No one wanted to join us. I had to get what I could get and attract what I could attract whilst working with what I had but we managed to survive this league. So far, so good.

“ This is the top flight league and I am having to play players that I plucked from obscurity in the lower divisions. City Stars took my players away from me. The moment they manage to find some cohesion , it will be difficult for any team to beat me!”

“My team is good. With more time, My players will become warriors and from there, we will separate the raw from the ripe!”

Kenyatta insists that if his team can build on from the scraps they had to work with by strengthening, they can try and challenge for the title next season.

“I cannot talk about tomorrow but we are putting some plans in place given this is a good team. This is a marathon. Everyone wants to win the league of course. Maybe the team we will build for next season will be better, and if all goes well, we can even be the league's best.”

FC Talanta will finish their season with a clash against Ulinzi Stars, and Kenyatta insists on taking it one game at a time.

“We will focus on Ulinzi when it is time for Ulinzi. I cannot talk about Ulinzi right now until the game comes>”
