The former Manchester United captain has expressed doubt about Arsenal's ability to win the Premier League title, citing various reasons.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes that Arsenal are nowhere near winning the Premier League title following their recent draw with the ‘Red Devils’ at Old Trafford.

The draw forced Arsenal to give up on their title chase against leaders Liverpool, who now lie 15 points ahead of the Gunners.

Arsenal have for long been known to start the season on a high but lose the momentum on the way and this year’s case is no different from the past two seasons.

He has now lost confidence in Mikel Arteta’s ability to guide Arsenal to the title after the poor show display in their match against Manchester United.

“No. Why would I? What makes you think the manager can do it? They've got close over the last few years, but City will be strong next year and I'm sure Liverpool will be too,” Roy Keane revealed as per the Daily Mail when he was asked if Mikel Arteta could win the league next season.

“Where is the evidence to think they can do it? Getting a striker in would help, have they got the right mentality? Has the manager? You see a different side to them when they're losing every week, but they get all agitated when they're losing.”

Roy Keane revealed that Arsenal require a striker but they seem reluctant to bring in one despite certain names being suggested.

He explained that even if they decide to bring one now, it will be too late since Liverpool and Manchester City will not be waiting for them to bounce back and take the league title.

“I don't think getting a striker in who'll score 20 goals a season will necessarily be the difference. They're going to look to improve, Pep will bounce back and I think Liverpool will be stronger next season,” Keane said.

“We don't know where Chelsea are, but what's the evidence or this group of players that they can do it? It's alright challenging, but it should be about winning titles.”

He added that their mentality has immensely been affected and he thought they would bounce back in the game against Manchester United but things got worse.

Roy Keane insisted that the injuries have also been a huge issue and Mikel Arteta seems to have struggled to manage that, causing more harm to the team.

“There's that striking issue, of course, but I still thought there would be that mentality of getting the job done. If anything, it was the opposite,” he said.

“There would've been frustration from the last few years they didn't get over the line, or get a cup or whatever it might be.

“They've lost that momentum, what we saw here today was nowhere near good enough. On the one hand, you want to give them credit for the last few years but the next step is the hardest step.”

Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League table with 55 points while Liverpool continue their dominant run at the top with 70.
