The 2023 season of the NPFL is at the moment, on its midseason break following the completion of week 9 matches, and general elections in Nigeria.
The current season - being played in an abridged format, have the duo of Bendel Insurance and Lobi Stars leading both Groups A and B.
IMC has hit their 4-point agenda
According to Owumi, the IMC - the body set up to oversee the running of Nigeria's top flight - have so far, achieved all they set out to achieve at the start of the 2023 season.
Speaking in an interview with TheNation, Owumi who finished as the league top scorer (with 13 goals) in 1993 revealed that it was the IMC's plan to 'get the league going,' 'a new calendar for the system,' 'get sponsors for the league' and 'get the league on television.'
"Our mission when we came in, we had some terms of reference among them, is that we should get the league going; we should get a new calendar for the system, get sponsors and get the league on television," Owumi said to TheNation.
"To some extent, I think all four that I mentioned have been achieved already. So, if that is anything to go by, it means that things are going on okay."
