The city of Benin was served the best of the football league as two of its best teams went head-to-head.
The biggest game of the weekend saw Group A pacesetters Bendel Insurance and Remo Stars go head-to-head in Benin City.
It was the most anticipated game heading into game week four of the new NPFL season for some reasons.
Chief amongst these was the fact that both teams had a perfect start to the season and of course, the game in Benin can be watched by millions of fans across the country and world as both teams have streamed all their games so far in the season.
So, with that said, how did the game go? Did it live up to the pre-game hype? Join me as I break down one of the best games so far in the football league with these three observations.
Benin Arsenal insure three points
The newly promoted side Bendel Insurance became the only team in the NPFL this season to have a 100 % record in the league.
Insurance proved to be too good for their visitors from Ikenne, Remo Stars following a comprehensive and comfortable 3-0 win on Saturday evening.
The Benin Arsenal were inspired by their superstar, Imade Osarenkhoe and his partner in crime, Ismael Sarki, who were both on target again to help Insurance a fourth successive win.
It wasn't just that Bendel Insurance won but the manner with which they did dispatch the Sky Blues who came into the game as the only team yet to concede a goal.
Insurance and Remo Stars are good
While the Benin side deservedly won the war on Saturday, the matchday four encounter was worthy of its pre-game hype as both sides showed why they were unbeaten heading to the game.
At times, the two teams took turns to display some nice touches on the ball with their build-up play - though the host played with a bit more purpose and bite.
But overall, it was a good advert for the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
Imade is the real deal
It took the Uniben graduate just five minutes to do what nobody had done - break the resistance of the Remo Stars' defense.
That strike, his fourth goal in four matches, propelled his side to another win in the NPFL,
Imade did say he's an Arsenal fan and would love to play for the Gunners after he's conquered the NPFL with his state club, Bendel Insurance.
So far, given how brilliant he has started the campaign and the fun his favourite club, Arsenal are in under Mikel Arteta in the Premier League, the 22-year-old is slowly showing that he is a player for the future.
Perhaps the Gunners should keep a close tab on the Bendel superstar, who is beginning to show that he's the real deal not just with his goals, but touches as well.
