Despite returning to the starting lineup after an injury, Victor Osimhen's impact on the game was limited. He picked up a yellow card in the 38th minute but was unable to create many scoring opportunities for Napoli in their defeat to Atalanta.

Following the lackluster performance, some Nigerians are urging Osimhen to consider leaving Napoli.

Atalanta Crush Napoli's Champions League Dreams in First-Half Blitz

Atalanta wasted no time putting Napoli under pressure. Just two minutes in, Aleksei Miranchuk nearly opened the scoring with a shot that struck the base of the post.

The lead wouldn't be long in coming, though. A scramble in the box following a Davide Zappacosta cross saw Miranchuk tap home from close range after Pasalic's deflected volley found its way to him. Napoli's protests for a foul in the build-up were waved away.

Napoli had a glimmer of hope shortly after Victor Osimhen found himself through on goal. He forced Pierluigi Carnesecchi into a sharp save, but Giorgio Scalvini cleared the rebound off the line before Matteo Politano could convert.

Atalanta doubled their lead just before halftime. Gianluca Scamacca's high press created the opportunity, leading to a Miranchuk strike that found the bottom corner with precision.

The second half saw Napoli desperately searching for a way back into the game. Piotr Zielinski rattled the post with a powerful volley, and Stanislav Lobotka's effort was deflected wide by Osimhen, forcing Carnesecchi into another save.

However, Atalanta extinguished any remaining hope with a well-executed counter-attack. Teun Koopmeiners, who came on as a substitute, combined with Matteo Ruggeri before finishing coolly past Juan Jesus.

This goal effectively ended Napoli's Champions League qualification hopes. The final whistle was met with jeers from the home crowd, expressing their disappointment with the result.
