AFCON 2023 Toha, Loki, Okello carry South Sudan’s hopes against Gambia

Five Ugandan-based footballers have been called up to the SOuth SUdan team for the upcoming 2023 AFCON match day five qualifiers.

Up to five Uganda Premier League players will be in action when South Sudan plays Gambia in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Wednesday 14th June, in Egypt.

South Sudan head coach Stefano Cusin has called up Arua Hill captain Rashid Toha, Joseph Dhata and Ivan Wani.

The other two are Bright Stars’ attacking midfielder Emmanuel Loki and former Vipers striker Tito Okello.

The CECAFA nation will host the match day five fixture at the Suez Canal Stadium after failing to complete works on the Juba Stadium in time.

Bright Stars are currently bottom of Group G with three points, two behind Congo and Gambia in 2nd and 3rd place, while Mali tops with six.
