Ingwe's youngster Lauren James sealed the win as Juma begins his reign on a positive note.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League giants AFC Leopards, under the guidance of their new head coach Tom Juma, kicked off their pre-season with a narrow 1-0 win against FKF Division Two side Bongonaya FC on Saturday morning.

The winning goal was netted by the talented youngster, Lauren James, who gave the fans a glimpse of his promising abilities.

After parting ways with Belgian coach Patrick Aussems due to personal reasons, Leopards turned to Juma to steer the team back to its former glory.

With a successful playing career in Sweden and Belgium and experience representing Kenya in the Africa Cup of Nations, Juma brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the coaching role.

Having had an underwhelming 2022-23 season, failing to secure any trophies, Ingwe  is hungry for success.

The team came close to lifting the FKF Cup, only to be thwarted by Kakamega Homeboyz in the penultimate stage.

Now, under the guidance of Juma, the club aims to break a decade-long jinx and capture the elusive Premier League title.

Speaking before the friendly as head coach, Juma expressed his commitment to turning things around for AFC Leopards.

"Given the much-needed support, we are committed to turning things around. But I'm also requesting the fans to be patient as the management continues working hard to retain key players," said Juma.

The pre-season friendly against Bongonaya provided an early glimpse of Juma's tactical approach and the team's potential.

As a former player himself, Juma knows the importance of building a cohesive team that can perform at its best on the pitch.

His experience with Friska Viljor SC and Huskvarna FC in Sweden, as well as his time with Sofapaka where he helped them secure the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title in their maiden season, will undoubtedly prove valuable as he guides Ingwe towards success.

Furthermore, his stints as a coach with Administration Police and Muhoroni Youth, along with his previous role as an assistant coach at Ingwe, have provided him with invaluable experience in managing and nurturing talent.
