Trucha has revealed Nzoia Sugar pullled off a spirited fight that made it difficult for AFC Leopards because it suited them as underdogs.
AFC Leopards head coach Tomas Trucha has revealed his half-time team talk that inspired them to a 2-0 victory against Nzoia Sugar on Sunday.
The match, which commemorated the club’s 60th anniversary, saw Ingwe require two late goals by Arthur Gitego and Beja Hassan to get all three points to keep their positive momentum going, where they are now unbeaten in each of their last nine games.
Speaking after the match, Trucha congratulated Nzoia for their spirited fight, as they tried punishing Leopards’ lapses in certain situations and prevented them from creating many clear-cut opportunities.

FKFPL AFC Leopards boss Tomas Trucha explains what Kennedy Owino needs to be at his best
AFC Leopards boss Tomas Trucha has explained what new signing Kennedy Owino will need to perform to the kevel he expects.
“We knew it would not be an easy game, as I said, it is better to be underdogs than the favorite team,” Trucha said.
“Nzoia came with a defensive tactic and was trying to wait for our mistake and play on the counter. We were prepared for it but in the first half, there were too many miss passes, too much misunderstanding between the players.”
Trucha has revealed what he told the players at half time which helped win the game for them.
“It is why we gave a lot of confidence to the Nzoia players. We spoke at half-time about how to change it, to be more mobile, to go behind the defence and I believe it worked. Even the changes we made with the players, they brought fresh legs, new energy.”

FKFPL Analysis : How Kayci Odhiambo can be AFC Leopards' John Stones in a hybrid midfield-center back role
Man City manager Pep Guardiola has been using John Stones in a hybrid midfield-center back role. Given Kayci is a midfielder-cum center back at AFC Leopards, could he be Tomas Trucha's version of the English defender at the club?
Trucha has admitted that they were lucky to have gotten all the three points in the end.
“Nzoia Sugar are fighting not to be relegated and the players want to be on the market so they fought and we won the game, but we were lucky,” Trucha said.
Meanwhile, Trucha has revealed that getting enough time to get the players to bond and buy into his methods is a big reason behind their recent good run of form.
“You need to ask players. Look, Tom Juma did not have enough time to coach the players. They signed many before the start of the season.
“I had some time and some games where I was able to introduce how I wanted to play. I want players to work hard every training to have the target of improving their passing drills, combinations, and tactical training.
“I want them to be happy and even after training when they are tired, they are happy, sometimes they are unhappy because I push training too hard.
“But overall they work hard, they compete for the position and this is why we are winning now.”
