Fans are saying the same thing about Eddie Howe's men after they took Leicester City to the cleaners at the restart of the Premier League.
Newcastle United travelled to the King Power Stadium on Monday, December 26, 2022, to face Leicester City in the 17th round of the Premier League fixtures.
Both teams were hoping to build on their pre-World Cup form following the resumption of the league on Boxing Day.
However, the hosts suffered a terrible start to the encounter after Daniel Amartey fouled Joelington in the box just three minutes into the match.
Referee Jarred Gillett pointed to the spot and Chris Wood stepped up and slotted past Danny Ward to give Newcastle the 1-0 lead.
Newcastle continued to dominate with beautiful passage of plays and soon doubled their lead in the 7th minute, after a moment of pure brilliance from Miguel Almiron.
Leicester tried to find a way back into the game but had no real ideas on how to go about it as they were eventually made to pay later on in the game.
Joelinton headed home brilliantly from a Kieran Trippier corner in the 32nd minute to put the Magpies 3-0 up with just 13 minutes to go until half-time.
Joelinton’s goal proved to be the last real action in the first 45 minutes as Brenda Rodgers’ men headed into the break with all to do in the second period.
Second Half
Brendan Rodgers was forced into making a change at the start of the second half with Jamie Vardy replacing Patson Daka in attack, as the Foxes sought to stage a comeback.
But Newcastle still continued to dominate possession 20 minutes after the restart as Eddie Howe’s men looked certain to run away with a win at the King Power.
Leicester failed to pose much of a threat as the game reached it’s closing stages managing just one shot on target in the second period despite boasting the lion’s share of possession.
In then end, the Magpies held on for a well deserved 3-0 win over Brendan Rodgers side as they moved to second on the Premier League summit on Monday.
