Tottenham secured a comfortable win over their rival Manchester United in their second Premier League game of the season.

Tottenham came into this game from the back of a 2-2 draw with Brentford while Manchester United escaped with a 1-0 win over Wolves in their first game of the season.

Spurs defeated Erik Ten Hag side 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium making it their first win of the season.

Two second-half goals were enough to sink Man United. Pape Matar Sarr gave Tottenham the lead and the second goal came from an own goal by Lisandro Martinez.

As it happened

Pedro Porro and Pape Matar Sarr replaced Emerson Royal and Oliver Skipp from Tottenham's 2-2 draw at Brentford on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United has not changed since their improbable victory over Wolves on Monday night.

However, Harry Maguire is missing from the matchday squad despite turning down a move to West Ham.

Both teams started the game with an end-to-end attack but failed to make their attempt count.

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford both had a chance to give Man United the lead but failed to put their free header into the back of the net.

Tottenham also saw a back-to-back chance during the game, with Pedro Porro hitting a delightful shot past Onana but his shot struck the post.

The immediate rebound found Sarr who put a cross in which deflected through the legs of Shaw and almost into the back of the net but was saved by the bar.

The referee blew the Whistle for the end of the first half with both teams failing to get the opening goal.

The second half started and Tottenham got the better of Manchester United in the 48th minute of the game.

A good attack down the right by Dejan Kulusevski who gets into the box and cross deflects horribly off Lisandro Martínez to Pape Matar Sarr, who volleys home his first goal for the club.

Man United tried to get the equaliser after Bruno Fernandes found Antony, whose curled effort hit the post.

The home side got chance after chance in the game and almost got the second goal of the game but could not convert their chances.

Tottenham added the second goal in the 82nd minute as Ivan Perisic was left unmarked on the left flank.

He sent a low ball into the box, Ben Davies got an ever so slight touch but then Lisandro Martinez got a bigger touch to divert the ball into the net.

Manchester United also had a penalty appeal during injury time but was waved off by the referee for a goal kick.

The referee blew the final whistle of the game with Tottenham getting their first home win of the season and Man United with their first defeat of the season.
