Tottenham Hotspur have launched a late move to sign the Nigerian-born Villarreal attacker on loan from under the noses of Everton
Arnaut Danjuma had been set to join Everton on loan from Villarreal on Tuesday but he has now reportedly passed a medical with Tottenham in a move that is set to be a huge blow to the Merseyside club.
Tottenham hijack Danjuma deal
Tottenham now expect to seal a move for Danjuma on loan to bolster Antonio Conte's attacking options as Spurs approach the business end of the season.
Everton were set to deal a deal for the 25-year-old who has scored six goals in 17 games this season for Villarreal but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have swooped in at the last moment and are closing in on a deal for the Netherlands international.
Danjuma scored six goals in 11 Champions League matches last season as Villarreal reached the semi-finals as well as 10 goals in La Liga in 23 matches.
The Ngerian-born attacker, who turns 26 on transfer deadline day, can play either up front as a lone striker, as a support striker or on the left.
Disappointment for Everton
This will be a massive disappointment for Everton should the deal be completed. The Toffees need to bring in attacking reinforcements as they face the very real prospect of relegation.
