The 25-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation following an impressive end to the previous season.
Despite Chalobah's strong form at the backend of the 2023-24 season, Chelsea have indicated a willingness to sell the defender, with the West London club looking to generate funds and reshape its squad under new manager Enzo Maresca.
With several defensive options available, including recent signings Tosin Adarabioyo and the reported imminent arrival of Boca Juniors teenager Aaron Anselmino, Chalobah has found himself surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United acquired Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna to add firepower to their attack and have followed that up by securing the services of promising young defender Leny Yoro from Lille in a deal potentially worth £58.9 million.
What comes next?
It remains to be seen if United make a formal bid for the versatile centre-back, capable of playing at right-back and defensive midfield, but the Blues are not expected to stand in the player’s way.
The Red Devils are on tour of the United States, where they face Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool before the Community Shield against Manchester City on August 10.
