Tusker are set to travel to Uganda for their pre-season preparations as they prepare to reclaim the league title they last won in 2021 next season.

Tusker FC interim coach Charles Okere believes that early preparations have infused the squad with a sense of positivity ahead of the new season. As the team gears up for a series of friendly matches starting Thursday, Okere is optimistic about the progress made during pre-season training.

With a trip to Uganda on the horizon this weekend, Tusker FC, who have been in pre-season camp for the last three weeks, are set to play a combined side at Dandora Stadium on Wednesday. Okere sees this match as a crucial opportunity to assess the team's current form.

“We have had support from the management, and there is such a positive mood between the new players who’ve just come in and the older ones. The two groups are jelling well, and I think that’s a very good start to the season,” Okere told the club's media channels.

The 12-time Kenyan Premier League champions have focused on player physical and medical assessments over the past three weeks. In addition, the club has been active in the transfer market, signing five new players: Jacob Onyango, Alex Onchwari, Dennis Wanjala, Eric Balecho, and Thomas Omole.

The team has also secured contract extensions for the experienced trio of Michael Kibwage, Deogratious Ojok, and Charles Momanyi, ensuring their presence for another season.

“So far, so good,” Okere commented on the club’s off-pitch activities. “All we were focusing on was the medical and physical tests, plus a bit of basic tactical elements that the squad has bought into and showed positivity to what we are building.”

As he leads the team in the absence of a permanent head coach, Okere confirmed that all players who had arrived at camp with minor injuries have fully recovered, and the squad is now “in good shape” ahead of the upcoming test matches.

In Uganda, Tusker FC is scheduled to play three matches against NEC FC, Kitara FC, and Lugazi FC. Okere believes these matches will be beneficial, providing valuable insights as the team continues its pre-season preparations.

“These matches will give us a clear picture of where we are as they are also in their pre-season program and should give us good value,” Okere added.

With the pre-season preparations well underway, Tusker FC appears poised to make a strong start in the upcoming season.
