Tusker FC's coach Matano unfazed by 1-0 loss to Shabana, vows to regroup, acknowledges team challenges, and emphasizes early season.

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano appears unfazed despite his team's unexpected 1-0 defeat to the newly promoted side Shabana in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played on Friday.

Vincent Nyabuto's decisive header secured Shabana's first victory of the season, leaving the Kasarani Stadium in a state of euphoria as the jubilant Shabana fans celebrated their team's triumph.

Matano, however, remained calm in the face of this setback, acknowledging the team's shortcomings in the match.

"We have lost... that's all. We played well as a team, but our new players didn't click, and we didn't have the urge to score. Overall, our performance was not up to par,” Matano commented.

Despite the disappointing result, Matano expressed a composed perspective, emphasizing the early stage of the season.

"There is no need to worry about this loss; there are only six matches in the season today. Although we lost, we will regroup during the international break and come back stronger,” he assured.

The Kasarani Stadium witnessed scenes of jubilation as Shabana's faithful, who had turned up in large numbers, reveled in the joy of witnessing their team's first Premier League victory.

Song and dance echoed through the stands at the final whistle, marking a historic moment for Shabana.

Reflecting on the tactical aspects of the game, Matano admitted that the execution of their game plan did not go as hoped.

"The opponents' fans didn't scare us, but we didn't execute our game plan as we had hoped. However, with time, we are confident that we will climb up the league standings," he said.

One of the notable challenges faced by Tusker in the match was their inability to crack the solid Shabana backline, skillfully marshaled by their former player Rodgers Aloro.

Despite mounting pressure, Tusker found it difficult to break through Shabana's defence, leaving Matano with tactical considerations to address in the team's upcoming fixtures.

The defeat has intensified scrutiny on Matano, particularly after a significant clearout in the pre-season, which saw the exclusion of several senior players, including the team's skipper Humphrey Mieno.

The restructuring of the squad raised eyebrows among the Tusker faithful, and Matano's ability to integrate new players seamlessly is now under the microscope.
