The Brewers have parted ways with the right-back after two seasons with Robert Matano keen to add more quality to his side

Tusker FC have confirmed the departure of defender Kevin Monyi as the club continues a clear-out ahead of next season.

Monyi joined the Brewers in September 2020 from the now-defunct Western Stima and has been an integral member of Robert Matano’s side during his three years with the Ruaraka giants.

The right-back won a league title with Tusker in 2021 but he has been deemed surplus to requirements with his contract expiring at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

“Kevin Monyi will depart the club at the expiry of his contract. Akang'o has been a diligent servant to the club, and we are entirely thankful for his services. All the best in your new adventure, Monyi,” Tusker said on Thursday.

Monyi has also had to deal with difficult circumstances at Tusker as besides fierce competition for a starting place with Daniel Sakari, he has also been faced with long-term injuries as witnessed last year when he had to miss 12 games.

He is the second player whose departure has been confirmed by Tusker after Tanzanian central defender Kalos Kirenge, who was released at the end of his two-year contract.

Tusker are creating room for new arrivals as they seek to banish the disappointment of last season when they lost the league by one point and missed out on the FKF Cup following defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz in the final.

Captain Humphrey Mieno, Jackson Macharia, Michael Wanjala, Shami Mwinyi, Kevin and David Majak are the other players rumoured to be on their way out of Tusker.
