Momanyi is expected to be named as Tusker's new captain, having extended his stay.

Former Gor Mahia and current Tusker defender Charles Momanyi has extended his stay with Tusker signing a one-year extension, the club has confirmed on their social media pages.

The center-back has been a rock for the Ruaraka-based outfit, joining the club in 2021 from bitter rivals Gor Mahia and playing a key role in delivering the league title in the voided 2021/2022 season.

He was also integral to their title challenge last season, forming a formidable partnership with Tom Teka at the back, with his ability to defend aerial balls a particular joy to watch for the Tusker faithful.

This will come as a huge boost for the side, who have a core of young players, who will need players of his experience to pass on to them, especially having let go of experienced influential captain Humprey Mieno, who decided to leave Tusker at the end of his contract.

Mieno skippered the brewers to a second-place finish in the concluded season, where they wrapped with a solitary point adrift of champions Gor Mahia.

Momanyi has  also amassed massive experience in continental assignments, having featured in continental competitions consistently for Gor Mahia since 2017 when he joined the Nairobi-based side from Kakamega Homeboyz.

He came to the Ruaraka-based side as a free agent after terminating his contract with Gor Mahia two months before the conclusion of the season owing to unpaid dues in 2021.

Momanyi is expected to be named as the club’s new permanent captain, with goalkeeper Brian Bwire his assistant
