The brewers have a chance to move to the summit and pile more pressure on Gor while the Muhoroni-based side are out to increase their survival chances

Tusker FC will be seeking to move to the top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League table with a win against Kariobangi Sharks at the Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

Robert Matano’s charges will be fully aware that a win for them will mount pressure on Gor Mahia, who will play bitter rivals AFC Leopards a day later, to get all the three points if they are to stand a chance of maintaining their two-point lead after 30 games.

The brewers are experts at being compact and soaking up the opposition pressure before hitting teams on the break and scoring from any direction.

The Ruaraka-based outfit have scored 38 goals but conceded 20, meaning they have a goal difference of 18. Gor Mahia have scored 44 and conceded 16, and their goal difference is superior at 28.

Kariobangi Sharks are low on confidence and are still scared by their humiliating exit at the hands of Kakamega Homeboys in the FKF Cup a fortnight ago. They conceded six goals, with their fullbacks and midfield being particularly vulnerable.

Having scored the most goals in the first leg of the season, they have been finding it difficult to score, and in their only win in the last seven league games, they scored from the penalty spot twice through Tyson Otieno.

It will be interesting to see whether they will find a way to get their confidence back in attack against a solid Tusker defence, with Thomas Teka and Charles Momanyi forming a solid partnership at the back, which has been integral to their success.

At the Muhoroni stadium, Wazito will be hoping to get a result against Posta Rangers as they seek to get out of the relegation places. Having avoided defeat in three of their last four games, they will be attempting to get all points against a Posta side that are still adapting to a new style of play under John Kamau.

In Kakamega, Vihiga Bullets, who are hanging by a thread, will be facing Ken Kenyatta’s FC Talanta. Bullets are on a woeful run of form, having lost all their last five league games, and seem destined for the second tier, having already gone through two different coaches this season. A rare win will give them 11 points, but that may still not be enough to prevent them from going down.
