Tusker created numerous chances but could not make them count, as Posta held them to a frustrating draw, leaving them second in the league

Tusker failed to take advantage of Gor Mahia's capitulation to Kakamega Homeboyz ad they drew 1-1 with Posta Rangers despite creating a flurry of goalscoring opportunities in an FKF PL match played at the Ruaraka Grounds on Wednesday afternoon.

Tusker started poorly and should have gone behind in the second minute when Brian  Bwire was forced to make a brilliant block to deny Posta’s Patrick Otieno when one-on-one.

Moments later, Shami Kibwana of Tusker picked  the ball at the edge of the box and fired at goal but the shot rose marginally over the bar

Posta’s stubbornness bore fruit as they went ahead in the ninth minute through winger Packson Dwang, who again, found himself one on one with Bwire, before executing a cheeky chip over the Kenyan international to put the visitors ahead.

The Brewers needed to reply quickly, and they had to resort to playing for set pieces, as Rangers keeper Brandon Obiero appeared particularly vulnerable coming for crosses, having to punch it clear rather than claim it.

One of those situations resulted in Rogers Oumafiring a shot on the rebound from the edge of the box, but it flew wide.

In the 35th minute, Robert Matano’s charges had yet another chance to equalize when defender Charles Momanyi rose to glance a header from Daniel Sakari's cross but it bounced marginally wide.

Tusker needed answers at the break, and Matano clearly must have instructed them to whip in crosses and win set pieces to equalize. Early in the second half, a Sakari throw-in caused confusion in the box, which resulted in Momanyi heading a ball toward the goal that was cleared off the line.

The Brewers kept huffing and puffing, and their efforts finally bore fruit in the 55th minute when Deogracious Ojok got on the end of Sakari’s cross with a diving header to restore parity.

The Brewers nearly went ahead through left-back Levin Odhiambo in the 60th minute, when he hit a perfectly executed left-footed strike from a free kick that was only denied by the crossbar.

After soaking up a lot of pressure, Posta had the rare opportunity to attack the break when Otieno ghosted past Humprey Mieno and found himself one on one, but he dallied with the ball too long allowing Bwire to collect the ball easily again.

Tusker continued creating chances but could not make them count heading into stoppage time. In the end, they were frustrated to a 1-1 draw.
