PREVIEW: Tusker hope to return to winning ways against rejuvenated Sofapaka as Posta Rangers eye Police's scalp

Tusker boss Robert Matano targets Sofapaka’s scalp to ease the pressure on his shoulders while Posta Rangers seek to return to winning ways against Police to maintain league table lead.

Rejuvenated Sofapaka will be hoping to keep their run going when they host beleaguered Tusker at the Machakos Stadium

The Brewers have lost their last two games against Shabana and Gor Mahia, which put Robert Matano in a precarious situation, with reports emerging he was set to be sacked after club chairman Charles Gacheru had given him an ultimatum to beat Gor Mahia else he would lose his job.

However, Matano stayed on and will be eyeing Sofapaka’s scalp in order to relieve the pressure on his shoulders.

Batoto Ba Mungu are currently bottom on just four points, but could climb out of the relegation zones should they overcome the Brewers.

They will be hoping to keep their momentum going after beating Kenya Police last week, Humphrey Mieno, who left Tusker at the end of his contract, is now on the other side, and Tusker will be looking for ways to stop him considering he controls the tempo of matches nonchalantly.

Tusker have struggled to control the tempo of games since they let their influential captain leave, and they have had to shift between using new signings Chris Erambo and Fabian Adikinyi to play alongside Daviv Odoyo, while Collins Otieno has struggled to nail down a starting place.

In another FKFPL match, league leaders Posta Rangers will be hoping to overcome their shock 3-1 loss to FC Talanta last week when they visit the Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After winning five games on the bounce playing vertical and attractive football, they were crushed back down to earth last week as Ken Kenyatta’s FC Talanta brushed them aside 3-1.

John Kamau will be hoping his side just suffered a blip, but know that facing Kenya Police will not be easy, considering it is a team stacked with established Kenyan internationals.

Posta have scored 11 goals, and are joint-top alongside Gor Mahia in terms of being prolific in the league and conceded four goals, the joint-second best defensive record in the league.

A win over Zvadko Logarusic’s charges will be a confidence booster for the side, who will believe they can still trust their own process of playing Pep-Guardiola-esque vertical and attractive football.

Muhoroni Youth will be facing Murang’a Seal in a match that is set to be televised at 4 PM hoping to register their second win of the season after collecting one point in their last two games.

The Charles Odera-coached outfit were docked three points after club chairman Moses Adagala caused unrest against KCB in stoppage time upon realising that his side stood no chance of winning the match.

They know they will have their work cut out to stop high-flying Seal from getting all three points this afternoon, considering the Murang’a-based side have conceded just twice all season. They will need captain Collins Neto at his best to overcome that mean defense.
