The brewers missed out on the Premier League crown to Gor Mahia by just one point but want to make amends by beating Homeboyz on Saturday
Tusker FC players are looking to wipe their tears with the consolation prize of the FKF Cup when they take o Kakamega Homeboyz in the final on Saturday.
The brewers lost the league title by just one point to Gor Mahia on Sunday despite winning 4-0 away to Vihiga Bullets, having stumbled in two of their final three games to hand K’Ogalo the advantage.
Losing the league means Gor Mahia will represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League but Tusker have another route to continental football if they win the Cup as it will earn them a ticket to the CAF Confederations Cup. It is an opportunity the players do not want to lose out on.
“It’s painful to lose (the league) in the last match, we had some few lapses which we have learned from, I think we will move forward stronger in the next season because we want to get the trophy back,” said Stewart Omondi, who scored twice in Sunday’s win.

The Brewers beat Vihiga Bullets 4-0 but it was not enough to help them secure the title, as Gor Mahia brushed aside Nairobi City Stars 4-1 to win a historic 20th league title.
“The league loss will affect us positively because I believe we have only one option and we must play continental football so we have all to play for and I am hoping for a win on Saturday.”
His sentiments were shared by veteran midfielder Humphrey Mieno who is counting on the team’s strong mentality for Saturday’s match.
“We have to show character and have a big mentality because coming to the match, we have to go there and fight and try to win this cup because we don’t have the title. It is the only trophy left for us so we have to fight with Homeboyz and win it,” said Mieno.

Tusker and Kakamega Homeboyz clash in the Mozzart Cup final this Saturday.
Beating Kakamega Homeboyz will, however, not be easy for Robert Matano’s men as Patrick Odhiambo’s side have been the giantkillers of this season.
Homeboyz have beaten Gor twice in two months in the league and cup and also eliminated AFC Leopards from the competition when they handed them a 2-1 defeat in the semi-final.
The Kakamega-based side have also never tasted continental football, adding to their motivation, meaning Matano’s men have their work cut out.
