Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi initiated their campaign in the Pepsi University Football League with a resounding 3-1 triumph over Bugema University in Nkozi.

Right from the start, the hosts displayed their intent, launching an early offensive and exerting immense pressure on their opponents.

As the first half progressed, Bugema University found their rhythm and created a few opportunities, but their efforts were ultimately thwarted when they ventured forward.

A swift counterattack from the hosts as Kaija Sanny carried the ball for several meters into Bugema territory before squaring a ball to teammate Ivan Agamile, who tucked in the opening goal in the 35th minute.

In a mere 52 seconds into the second half, Uganda Martyrs University extended their lead through a clinical finish by Akbar Ssentongo

Ssentongo further cemented his team's dominance by scoring a second goal from a well-executed corner kick in the 83rd minute, effectively sealing the fate of the game.

Bugema University managed to salvage some pride by converting a penalty in the dying moments of the match, but it was merely a consolation.

Kisuuze Eric, the head coach of Uganda Martyrs, emphasized the significance of securing a victory and expressed the team's unwavering determination to defend their title this year.

With this triumph, Uganda Martyrs University has firmly established their authority in Group A and sets their sights on becoming the first university to secure three championship titles.
