while they’re honouring the cup fixture, the Beto Bianchi-coached side’s mindS will be on match day two at the continent where they host Guinea’s Horoya in Kitende.
Jinja North United is seeking to capitalise on Vipers' tough continental fixture to cause a shocker when the two meet on Wednesday in the Stanbic Uganda Cup in Bugembe.
The Venoms are fresh from a 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca on the CAF Champions League group stage debut.
Vipers won the trophy in 2021 and finished as runners-up last season. However, while they’re honouring the cup fixture, the Beto Bianchi-coached side’s mind will be on match day two at the continent where they host Guinea’s Horoya in Kitende.
Their Cup hosts, Jinja North United has promised to use this opportunity to launch an assault.
“We know that they were hurt in Morocco and want to correct that on Saturday,” Musafiri Abduswamadu, the Jinja North United coach pointed out.
“I know their main focus is on the Champions League over the weekend and that gives us the motivation to go all out.
Experience
The Big League side signed a couple of experienced legs to push their agenda in both the Cup and league. David Bagoole is expected to face his immediate former employers for the first time after bitterly ending their relationship prematurely.
Others include now-former Busoga United captain Derrick Basoga, Umar Kyeyune (Gaddafi) and ex-BUL players Paul Kibande and Aziz Kemba. The latter played for Vipers at one point as well.
“We’re not under any pressure to play them because we’ve done the homework and know their weaknesses. They have big names in their squad but we also have some experience in the squad,” Musafiri cautioned.
Vipers have won only two games away in all competitions and have already lost twice to teams from Jinja in the league this season.
