Tanzania is leading the table with three points, the same as Uganda but is ahead on goal difference after pounding Burundi 3-0.

Uganda Women U18 head coach Ayub Khalifa wants the team’s chances to count when they meet minnows Zanzibar on Thursday in their second match of the CECAFA Women Under-18 tournament.

Currently, there are five teams, but the hosts Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda are the outright favourites.

It taking a round-robin format, the points will definitely count but the goals will likely decide the fate.

Khalifa knows that her strikers will have to do better than they did against a tougher Ethiopia when they face Zanzibar for a chance to cover the gap.

“We have tried to rectify some mistakes that we committed during our first match, mainly working on our striking line because we need to score more goals,” the coach said ahead of the match.

The fixture will kick off at 6 pm, shortly after the highly-billed clash between the two other heavyweights.
