Kasozi's charges will have a chance to cut the gap to eight points when they host Asubo Gafford on Saturday, before Kampala Queens hosts the defending champions, She Corporate on Sunday.
Uganda Martyrs High School WFC will not concede defeat just yet in the race for the 2022/23 FUFA Women Super League title.
With eight games to go until the end of the current season, Uganda Martyrs are second on the 10-team log with 19 points, but trailing leaders Kampala Queens WFC by 11 points.
“Unfortunately, we lost our first game in the second round but we are still in the race because the 11-point gap is catchable,” Uganda Martyrs head coach Edward Kasozi told Pulse Sports.
“Those are about four games and Kampala Queens also still have games against other big opponents including us.”
“They are a strong side having won all their games in the first round and started well in the second round but I still believe that they will also drop points somewhere.”
“We should be ready to capitalize when that moment comes that is why we need to respond to our defeat last week immediately.”
Kasozi noted: “Results matter a lot but there is when you struggle to win and that throws a signal to the opponents that you could be about to drop points and Kampala Queens struggled to win against Asubo Gafford Ladies.”
As Kampala Queens defeated Asubo 3-1 on Sunday, Uganda Martyrs lost 1-0 to Rines SS WFC.
