FOOTBALL Uganda Queen Cranes to face West African giants in World Cup qualifier

Four teams will represent the continent at the 2024 FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup in Colombia.

The Uganda Women’s Under-20 national team will face Senegal in the third round of the 2024 FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup.

Uganda Queen Cranes advanced to the third round after beating Mozambique 8-0 over two legs.

They will now face Senegal, who ousted their fellow West African Benin 2-0 on aggregate.

Adji Ndiaye and Khadija Badio gave Senegal a 2-0 lead from the first leg before settling for a goalless draw in Cotonou on Sunday night.

Uganda and Senegal will face off in Dakar between November 10th to 12th in the first leg.

The second leg will be hosted at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru between November 17th and 19th.

The overall winner from the two legs will face the winner between Eswatini and Ghana in the fourth and final round.

East African neighbours Kenya and Tanzania will face Cameroon and Nigeria, respectively as Ethiopia take on Mali.

Senegal has participated in the qualifiers for five years since 2006.

Their best result was a fifth-round appearance in 2022, where they lost to Nigeria 7-2.

Nigeria and Ghana represented the continent at the global showpiece in Costa Rica.
